Carpet tiles shall be installed on a clean and flat surface - may be placed on top of subfloors but never on top of another carpet. To lay carpet tiles, the center of the floor should be located first. This is done through measuring and using chalk lines. The carpet tape is applied around the perimeter of the room and over the created chalk lines. The tiles are then placed along these lines and not on top of them. The pieces should fit together tightly so there won’t be no lumping, and everything should go in the same direction. Some tiles have arrows in them to serve as guide. After laying the tiles around the room, the carpet knife and the carpenter’s square are used to cut the tiles so they can fit the edges. Finally, the carpet tiles are laid from the center of the room to the corners.
